520 Represent!

Props to Bruce Gungle for his 25th place finish at the 2006 Badwater. He was the top Arizona finisher and 12th American.

He beat A. Webb (43rd place) by over 4 hours.

I've always felt Webb should have just stuck with the mile.

Rain, rain down. I think it's going to rain, rain down

Right now, in Tucson, we are experiencing weather foreign to the desert--heavy rain. This morning, when I woke up, I realized that it was cloudy out but did not know that it was raining. So, I checked weather.com to see what was going on outside and the site reported Tucson was in the midst of some "severe thunderstorms" which, apparently, is code word for heavy rainfall.

Anyways, the run for the morning was a moderate 50 minutes on the riverpath. Overall, I felt fine but was forced to run on the pavement the whole way based on the fact the dirt was far too muddy to run on.

This afternoon, I am going to put in 5 more miles on the path and call it a day. Then, as mentioned yesterday, I will be running at least 15 miles to put me at a solid 80 for the week which is not too bad considering I only put in 2 a days twice this week.

I'm leavin' you haters like when Shaq left the Lakers just to "Heat" it up

From now on, my training/running based entries will not pollute athleticswest dot blogspot dot come but instead will be limited to the Dragons! training blog.

Yesterday, I decided to do some hill repeats on the road up to Bear Canyon. The workout consisted of 3x3 200 meter progressions. So, basically, I would run 200 meters up the hill. Recover. Run 400 meters up the hill. Recover. Then, I would run 600 meters up the hill and repeat the progression.

The workout went alright to say the least. I am definitely not used to the feeling of being anaerobic which occurred during the long interval. However, it was quite refreshing to run during a rainstorm which cooled things off dramatically for me.

All in all, it was a decent day at the office as I got in a workout and still put in 11 miles.

Because I had the day off, Dylan and I decided to hit up McKale to do some plyos, core work, and some lifting. Basically, we drove to McKale just to get out of the house as we easily could have done all that work here at the house. However, I guess it was worth the trip as we saw both Richard Jefferson AND Luke Walton...WOW!

This morning, I ran an easy 8 miles putting me at 52 mile for the week. The goal mileage for the week is 80 but I may fall short of that mark. However, I am going to set myself up for that mileage with an 8 mile run in the AM tomorrow morning and 4-5 in the evening. Then, on Sunday, I am going to put in 15 miles which should put me right around 80.

This weekend is going to suck.

Rainy Day Woman

This morning was a great day for running. I woke up at 6, did my usual shuffling around the house, and then headed out the door.

I keep my place pretty shut up during hot summer nights -- so I was quite pleased to see it had rained last night and was still falling this morning.

The guys working on the new sidewalk near the UA track didn't seem as thrilled.

I wish I was in better shape because days like this were just made for runs on the ends of town -- maybe Sabino or, from my place, A-Mtn or Tumamoc.

I'm pleased though. My Asics Nimbuses are treating me well and I don't have an once of knee pain.

We'll call today 30min slow and easy in the AM.
